Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown on Criminal Activities in Border Districts

Lahore, Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, is intensifying its operations against criminal elements in the province’s border districts, including Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Muzaffargarh, aiming to fortify the region against robbers, terrorists, and other malefactors.

According to Punjab Police, during a video-linked meeting held at the Central Police Office today, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar outlined a series of measures to bolster the police force’s logistics, human resources, transportation, and equipment. He emphasized that the Punjab Police should be a symbol of fear for criminals, especially in the kacha areas and along the borders.

Dr. Anwar directed the rapid construction of 20 new checkpoints in the specified districts and announced the provisioning of advanced technologies such as new Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), thermal cameras, night vision goggles, binoculars, and quadcopters. These tools are expected to significantly enhance the capability of the police to monitor and conduct operations in these challenging terrains.

The meeting also reviewed strategies to combat smuggling and hoarding, with a focus on using quadcopters for better surveillance and access to hidden criminal hideouts. Additional IG South Punjab Kamran Khan reported that intelligence-based operations are expanding and stressed the importance of continuous action against dacoits, terrorists, and criminals to ensure their eradication.

Participating via video link were high-ranking officials including RPOs and DPOs of DG Khan and Bahawalpur ranges, who discussed making the operational performance of Punjab Police more effective in the border areas of South Punjab. The discussion underscored the ongoing commitment to enhancing the safety and security of the region through well-coordinated intelligence and field operations.

The meeting marks a significant step in Punjab Police’s efforts to improve security and maintain law and order in the province’s most vulnerable districts.
