Punjab Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Kite Flying and Metallic Strings

Karachi, The Punjab Police has escalated its efforts to enforce the Kite Flying Act across the province, leading to the arrest of 19 individuals in the past 24 hours for their involvement in the dangerous activity of kite flying with metallic strings. This initiative is part of a broader campaign directed by Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar to curb the perilous use of metal strings and unauthorized kite flying, which pose a significant threat to public safety.

According to Punjab Police, the crackdown has resulted in 19 cases being registered under the Kite Flying Act, with the seizure of 162 kites and 27 metal spinning wheels from the accused. Over the last 37 days, the campaign has led to the arrest of 3,678 individuals across Punjab, including Lahore, with 3,545 cases registered and the recovery of 224,043 kites and 15,826 metallic spinning wheels.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has issued directives for Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to ensure that those involved in the manufacturing, trade, and flying of metal-string kites are brought to justice under stringent legal measures. He also called upon scholars, teachers, and parents to play a vital role in raising awareness about the hazards associated with this activity and to help prevent the dangers it presents to the lives of the general public.

This campaign underscores the Punjab Police’s commitment to safeguarding the community from activities that jeopardize public safety and highlights the ongoing efforts to enforce the law and maintain order.
