Qaim Ali Shah presides over law and order meeting

Karachi, June 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has stressed upon the Senior Police Officers to work with enthusiasm and spirit to control Law and Order in Province with special focus on Karachi. This he said while presiding Law and Order meeting at C.M House on Tuesday.

He said that during his surprise visits of Meethadar, Kharadar Police stations and he noted that their was very short numbers of Police men present in Police station. He said that old city areas, Joriya Bazar, Chamber of Commerce and other important commercial centers come under the jurisdiction of Meethadar Police station where presence of Police forces is of utmost importance in day and night. He added that during his surprise visit of Police station Liaquatabad and noticed that FIRs of different incidents were registered after a lapse of many months.

He said that after Registration FIRs were dispatched to SIU where as SIU investigates only heinous crimes. Investigation of general crimes including theft and street crimes do not come under SIU. Chief Minister Sindh said that there seems bottlenecks / constants in operation and investigations which should be removed. He directed to constitute four member committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Home to review police orders of 1861 and 2002 and present the report to Chief Minister Sindh within 15 days.” If there is need legislation would be made” he added.

He said that SHOs should be facilited so that they could perform their duties in better way. Chief Minister Sindh ordered to take prompt measures against target killings and extortion mafia as business community is worried about the extortion.

“Business Community be given protection and security to promote the commercial activates” CM Sindh said. He added that during his surprise visits in night he did not see any police mobile on the roads. He said that there was no political interference in transfer and posting of police officers and IG Police Sindh has been given free hand for transfer and postings of police officers on merit basis.”

I need positive results as early as possible” CM Sindh said. Police reforms were discussed in the meeting and it was decided that efforts and measures will be taken for the improvement of the police so that it could be made model police force.

Police officers presented various suggestions and ways to improve the performance of Police in the meeting. Provincial Minister Information Sharjeel Enam Memon, MPA Owais Muzzafar, ACS Home Wasim Ahmed, IG Police Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Additional IG Iqbal Mehmood, Principal Secretary to CM Naveed Kamran Baloch, DIGs of Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas and Prosecutor General Sindh attended.
