RAW Accused of Plotting Assassination of Sikh Leader on U.S. Soil

New Delhi, Reports have emerged accusing India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) of orchestrating a failed assassination attempt against Khalistan Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the United States.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a report from the Washington Post detailed the involvement of RAW officer Vikram Yadav, who allegedly hired a hit team to carry out the attack on American territory. This information aligns with a previous disclosure by the Financial Times in November 2023, which revealed that the U.S. had thwarted a plan to assassinate Pannun and had subsequently issued a formal warning to the Indian government regarding potential involvement in the plot.

Further developments include an indictment filed in Manhattan, New York, alleging that a man named Nikhil Gupta collaborated with an Indian government official to plan the murder of Pannun, who possesses dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship. The indictment identifies an unnamed individual, referred to as ‘CC-1’, believed to be Vikram Yadav, as the mastermind behind the assassination attempt initiated in May 2023.
