President Zardari Discusses Development and Humanitarian Issues with AJK Prime Minister

Islamabad, In a significant meeting today at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) discussed with President Asif Ali Zardari the development challenges and potential of AJK, focusing particularly on tourism and education to drive economic growth and improve local livelihoods.

According to Press Information Department, President Zardari emphasized AJK’s vast potential for tourism due to its natural beauty, urging enhanced investment in the sector to spur socio-economic development. He assured the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s full support in attracting investment and facilitating comprehensive economic activities in AJK, especially in tourism.

The discussions also covered the necessity of equipping AJK’s youth with modern skills and education to ensure their employability and contribution to regional development. The President mentioned Pakistan’s willingness to assist AJK in engaging with carbon credit markets as part of broader environmental and economic strategies.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Haq invited President Zardari to visit AJK and address the Legislative Assembly, highlighting the importance of continued support from the federal government. President Zardari expressed his condolences for the lives lost in recent rain-related incidents in AJK and reassured his commitment to aiding the affected families.

Furthermore, President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for self-determination, condemning the ongoing human rights violations by Indian forces. He called on the international community to pressure India to adhere to UN Security Council resolutions and end the atrocities in IIOJK.
