Rawalpindi RTO Destroys Rs. 194 Million Worth of Illicit Cigarettes

Rawalpindi, The Regional Tax Office (RTO) Rawalpindi conducted a significant destruction event for a large quantity of illicit and non-duty paid cigarettes, estimated to be worth around Rs. 194 million, with unpaid taxes amounting to Rs. 141 million. The event took place on Chakbeli Road and was attended by high-profile guests and officials.

According to Federal Board of Revenue, the destruction ceremony was presided over by Ms. Tehmina Aamer, Chief Commissioner of the RTO Rawalpindi. Members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and officers from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also attended the event. The ceremony involved the burning of approximately 2,585 packrites of illegal cigarettes, which included both non-duty paid and smuggled products.

The attendees were briefed on the entire process, from the confiscation of the illicit tobacco products to their ultimate destruction in accordance with the law. This event highlighted the RTO’s commitment to combating the illegal cigarette trade and enforcing tax laws to protect public health and the economy.
