Rawalpindi Tax Office Destroys Massive Quantity of Illicit Cigarettes

Rawalpindi, In a major crackdown on illegal tobacco, the Jhelum Zone of the Regional Tax Office in Rawalpindi destroyed approximately 2,700 packs of illicit cigarettes today in Chak Barahm, Jhelum.

According to Federal Board of Revenue, the destroyed cigarettes, including non-duty paid and smuggled varieties, were valued at approximately Rs. 202 million, with evaded duties amounting to Rs. 147.15 million. The destruction ceremony was attended by Ms. Tehmina Aamer, Chief Commissioner of RTO Rawalpindi, and other key officials. The event highlighted the ongoing efforts to combat the illegal tobacco trade and emphasized the rigorous process from confiscation to destruction under legal supervision.
