Raza Haroon inspect City Government Landfill sites

Karachi: Sindh minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon on Thursday night visited city government land fill sites at Jam Chakro and Gondpas where he inspected the facilities provided for dumping and disposal of garbage.

He was accompanied by EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam, EDO Finance Aamir Khurshid, Rasheed Jamal and other officers.

On this occasion he said all required facilities have been provided to both landfill sites of city government. Towns and other agencies collect computerized receipt after dispatch of garbage to landfill site. They should keep a record of these receipts as future policy for solid waste management will be based on this record.

The provincial minister on this occasion was informed that all the system at both landfill sites has been made computerized.

Raza Haroon said towns would have the responsibility of sending all their garbage to landfill site and get the computerized slip for this. After 15 days solid waste management policy for towns will be made in the light of the town’s computerized record.

If any town fails to send all its garbage to landfill site then the concerned town will itself suffer loss in future.

He also directed officers and staff to ensure their presence on roads during the 15 day campaign and also create awareness among the public.

The minister said present campaign was aimed to make the city clean and green.

He told all administrators to personally monitor the drive and ensure maximum disposal of waste.

He also appealed to citizens to provide full cooperation to town’s staff and never dump garbage in front of their house or on road.
