Sholapur, Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar has openly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of jeopardizing the nation’s democracy and imposing an authoritarian regime in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during a rally in Sholapur, Maharashtra, Pawar claimed that the country is effectively under a dictatorship, where dissent against the government leads to imprisonment. He expressed concerns over the electoral process, alleging that the BJP’s return to power would lead to the elimination of future Assembly and Parliament elections, thus endangering democratic structures.
Pawar highlighted the arrests of the Chief Ministers of Jharkhand and New Delhi as evidence of the BJP’s authoritarian practices, emphasizing that their imprisonment was due to their effective governance rather than any wrongdoing. He stressed that for democracy to survive in India, it is crucial to displace the BJP from power.
