Karachi: Minister for Energy, Development and Planning Sindh, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, announced that the province aims to complete the installation of 200,000 solar home systems by July 31, 2025. The announcement was made during a review meeting at the Energy Department, which was attended by Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani.
According to a statement by Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the project is being supported by the World Bank. The meeting was organized to assess the progress of the distribution of solar home systems. It was attended by Secretary Energy Department Musaddiq Ahmed Khan, State Stakes Advisor Solar Energy Project Sonia Soomro, and project officials Syed Zain Haider, Sikandar Ali, and Abdul Ghani.
Ministers Shah and Ghani emphasized the need to accelerate the project, aligning with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the directives of Chief Minister Sindh. Shah instructed that 1,600 solar home systems should be distributed monthly across all districts, with a weekly distribution of 400 panels per district.
The project is mandated to meet its completion deadline of July 31, 2025. Shah also set a target to distribute 50,000 solar panels currently in storage within 30 days and requested a progress report. Ceremonies for the distribution of solar panels will be organized with the cooperation of local administrations.
