Sindh Government Announces Aid for Families of Iran Bus Accident Victims

Karachi: Following directives from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced financial assistance for the families affected by the recent bus accident in Iran, which resulted in the deaths of several pilgrims from Sindh. The Chief Minister’s House released a statement on Friday detailing the compensation measures, which include a grant of Rs 500,000 for each of the families of the deceased.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the tragic incident claimed the lives of twenty-eight pilgrims from various districts in Sindh, with significant numbers from Larkana, Kashmore, and Khairpur, among others. Additionally, the accident left 25 individuals injured, with varying degrees of severity.

In response to the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, at the request of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has mobilized resources to aid the victims and their families, including the dispatch of seven vehicles and thirty planes to Iran to facilitate the transport of the deceased and injured back to Pakistan. The Sindh government has further arranged for ambulances to meet the victims at the airport, ensuring they are transported to their native areas or to hospitals for those injured.

Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has been tasked with overseeing the logistics of receiving the bodies at Sukkur and Jacobabad airports. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the provincial government to provide immediate support to the affected families and to manage the repatriation and medical treatment of the victims efficiently.

Moreover, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also addressed another urgent issue, condemning a recent attack on police by dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan. He extended condolences to the families of the martyred policemen and has directed the Inspector General of Sindh to coordinate with Punjab Police to assist and potentially plan a joint operation to combat the criminal elements responsible.

The Sindh government reaffirms its commitment to providing all necessary support to those impacted by these tragic events and to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
