Karachi, In a concerted effort to enhance the security of Chinese nationals in the region, Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, led a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office in Karachi. The assembly focused on reinforcing security protocols and establishing a specialized unit dedicated to the protection of Chinese residents and other foreign visitors.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting drew participation from Additional IGPs of Karachi, Counter-Terrorism Department, Directors General of Police from various districts, and heads of the Special Branch and CPEC security units, with some joining via video link. The discussions were aimed at tightening the existing security arrangements and adhering more closely to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Government of Sindh for the safety of foreign delegates.
IG Sindh highlighted the importance of modern security techniques and the establishment of a dedicated unit within the Special Branch specifically designed for the protection of Chinese nationals. He also directed supervisory officers across all levels to reassess and strengthen their security measures, demanding a detailed review report within three days.
The meeting also revisited the recent suicide attack in Mansehra Colony, Landhi, where the timely and effective response of the police thwarted a potential disaster, ensuring the safety of all foreigners involved. This incident underscored the ongoing risks and the need for vigilant and robust security protocols.
The commitment to enhancing the security of Chinese and other foreign nationals in Sindh was firmly reiterated, with IG Sindh affirming the readiness of law enforcement agencies to counter and defeat any terrorist threats, thereby ensuring the safety of international guests and fostering a secure environment for international collaborations in the province.
