Karachi: The North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) President, Faisal Moiz Khan, has called for a liberal industrial policy in Sindh, citing it as critical for the province’s economic growth. In response to the Sindh budget, Khan suggested that budgetary provisions should be extended to all seven industrial zones within the city.
Khan emphasized the importance of establishing a Combined Effluent Treatment Plant, which he noted as vital for the sustained operation of industries in Karachi. He also advocated for including all seven industrial zones in the Safe City Project to enhance security.
Addressing infrastructure needs, Khan urged the immediate construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway to boost economic connectivity across Sindh. The project, estimated at around Rs. 144 billion, has received a mere Rs. 15 billion allocation from the federal government, a figure Khan sees as indicative of insufficient federal engagement in Sindh’s development.
Khan also criticized the Sindh Revenue Board, labeling it as a corruption hub that requires urgent reform. He pressed for the swift initiation of development projects to address the rapidly declining infrastructure in Karachi.
