Sports can bridge cultural and linguistic barriers: Minister

Islamabad, April 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): Sounds of Screeches on clay court and immaculate forehands of players were appreciated by the Federal Minister for IPC, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, while watching Boys and girls Tennis final, here on 25th April 2014, at PTF complex, Islamabad. Speaking later, he said that there was always a sense of poignancy when watching a player who loses close fight, but unfortunately there can’t be two winners.

Federal Minister stated that two young stars of tennis, Mudassir and Muzamil, from Jhaniya will be given free boarding and lodging in PAKISTAN SPORTS COMPLEX, as these young stars were future of Pakistan. He also announced that two more synthetic tennis courts would be made in Pakistan Sports Complex to provide better playing opportunities to players. He also inaugurated the new TV room in Fatima Jinnah hostel (PSC) and visited the hostel and rest assured that all the facilities were up to the standards.

Federal Minister Main Riaz Husain Pirzada appreciated the commendable efforts of Mrs. Shahida Kausar for arranging Subh-e-Nau Earth Day National Ladies and Juniors Tennis tournament and providing young children this opportunity to improve their tennis skills and techniques, so that they could compete at International level.

On this cheerful occasion, Federal Minister added that sports could act as a universal language, which can bridge cultural and linguistic barriers. He also shared that due to law and order situation international teams avoided coming into Pakistan.

But government is trying its level best to bring international sports back to the country, he said Government of Pakistan attaches high priority to sports and that is why m/o IPC is concentrating more on improving infrastructure of sports in the country. Moreover, funds will be released to genuine clubs and federations, he added.

He further explained that there was copious of talent among the children of Pakistan and the way these young players had exhibited their skills on the court was evidence of the fact. So, PML N government will leave no stone unturned to provide opportunities to such young talented people so that it shouldn’t go wasted, he said.

Federal Minister also said “You will recall that I was the first minister to assume office and announce a massive plantation drive. So I am doubly thrilled to be here, as a guest for Subh-e-Nau: An Environment and Public Health Concern and to be involved in their cause for promoting sports and environment in the country”.

By planting a tree he helped the endeavour of Subh-e-Nau for green Pakistan. He also distributed prizes among the winners of the tournament. DG PSB (AKHTAR GANJERA), President Pakistan Tennis federation Mr. Kaleem Imam was also present on the occasion.
