State Bank of Pakistan Announces Closure for Ashura Holidays

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will be closed on July 16th and 17th, 2024, in observance of Ashura, marking the 9th and 10th days of Muharram 1446 A.H.

According to State Bank of Pakistan, the closure aligns with the national observance of Ashura, a significant period of mourning in the Islamic calendar commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, a grandson of Prophet Muhammad. This observance is one of the most important and solemn in Shia Islam and is respected widely across different communities in Pakistan.
