Islamabad, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Sub-Committee thoroughly reviewed the cases of remaining 80 pilots, whose licenses were either cancelled or suspended against the alleged charges of using illegal means for pilots exams. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla stated that the committee is intended to resolve the matter at the earliest, and do not want it to be a reason of any further humiliation for the country. Legal Counsel of CAA apprised that interim challan has been submitted by FIA against the pilots named in FIR.
Officials of PIA informed that 20 out of 80 pilots belongs to PIA and an acute shortage of pilots have reduced the PIA operations by 20 percent and has incurred a loss of around 700 crore rupees so far. The Committee directed the Civil Aviation Authority to reinstate the pilots, whose names are not mentioned in FIR, through Review Board and upon withdrawal of their cases from the Courts. The Sub committee deferred the deliberations on the matter till the next meeting.
The meeting was attended by Senator Muhammad Sabir Shah, Sr. Joint Secretary Aviation Division Mir Hassan Naqvi, DG CAA Khaqan Murtaza, Director Flight Operations PIA Asif Gillani, Chief Human Resource Officer PIA Athar Hussain and other concerned officers were also in attendance.
