Surge in Drowning Incidents Prompts Concern in Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, A significant increase in drowning incidents in the Kashmir Valley over the past 14 months has sparked concerns and highlighted the urgent need for effective preventive measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, data from the IIOJK’s Disaster Response Force department indicates that there have been 49 drowning incidents reported in the Kashmir Valley from January 1, 2023, to March 6, 2024. Out of these incidents, the bodies of 35 victims have been recovered, while nine others remain missing.

The data further detailed that Srinagar has experienced the highest number of such tragedies, with 19 drowning incidents reported, making it the district with the most cases. Baramulla district followed with 11 reported incidents. Other districts within the valley also recorded various numbers of drowning cases, contributing to the overall alarming trend.
