US Comments on Delhi Chief Minister’s Arrest and Congress Party’s Account Freeze

Washington, The United States has once again voiced its stance on the legal proceedings against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the freezing of the Congress party’s bank accounts in India, advocating for fairness and transparency.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a press briefing, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller responded to inquiries regarding India’s summoning of a US diplomat over comments on Kejriwal’s arrest related to the Delhi excise policy case and the allegations of the Congress party’s bank accounts being frozen. Miller highlighted the US’s close monitoring of these developments, including the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the challenges posed to the Congress party’s election campaign due to the freezing of its accounts by tax authorities.

Miller emphasized the importance of fair, transparent, and timely legal processes in addressing these issues, while also refraining from discussing any private diplomatic conversations. He reiterated the US position on advocating for judicial fairness and transparency, suggesting that such principles should be universally non-contentious.
