Swedish Agricultural Expert Partners with Green Pakistan Initiative for Arid Farming Development

Islamabad: In a significant move to advance agricultural techniques in arid regions, Dr. Mo Segad, a Swedish arid agriculture expert, has agreed to collaborate with the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI). The partnership aims to enhance research and development activities to cultivate barren lands, including vast areas in the Cholistan desert.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting with senior officials from GPI, Dr. Segad was briefed on the various sectors involved in the initiative, such as agriculture, livestock, and tourism. The Swedish expert expressed his commitment to working towards promoting agriculture in Pakistan through innovative research and sustainable practices.

The Green Pakistan Initiative is a critical component in the country’s effort to bring over four million hectares of the Cholistan desert under cultivation in the coming years. This collaboration with an international expert underscores Pakistan’s proactive approach to addressing challenges in agriculture, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions.
