Lahore-Sialkot Motorway Set to Become Barrier-Free Corridor

Lahore: In a move aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure, Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has announced significant upgrades to the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, directing the National Highway Authority (NHA) to transform it into a barrier-free corridor. This initiative was unveiled during a high-level meeting in Islamabad, where future plans for regional motorways were also discussed.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the minister’s directives include not only the removal of barriers on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway but also an expansion of the under-construction Sialkot-Rawalpindi Motorway from four to six lanes to accommodate anticipated future traffic growth.

Additionally, Minister Khan has mandated the installation of live cameras across all NHA construction projects to ensure transparency and real-time monitoring of ongoing work. This step is part of a broader effort to enhance the safety and efficiency of motorway travel throughout the region.
