Tech Valley Pakistan Collaborates with Sindh Education Bodies to Integrate Google Tools in Universities

Karachi: In a significant move to modernize educational infrastructure, Tech Valley Pakistan has joined forces with the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) and the Information Science and Technology Department (ISTD) of Sindh. This partnership aims to provide universities with Google for Education tools, preparing students for the demands of the contemporary workforce.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the agreement was formalized in the presence of the Vice Chancellors from 32 universities across Sindh, with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressing his support for the initiative. He highlighted the importance of integrating globally recognized educational tools to enhance the quality of education in government-run universities. The Chief Minister voiced his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that equipping students with advanced digital tools aligns with the government’s vision to transform the educational landscape in Sindh.

This collaboration allows universities under SHEC to access Google Workspace for Education, which includes Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, among other applications. This suite is notably used by 75% of the global workforce, positioning Sindh’s students well for future employment opportunities and aligning their educational resources with those utilized by top global institutions.

Noor Ahmed Sammo, Secretary of Information Science and Technology, Sindh, remarked on the potential of this initiative to enhance digital skills among students, preparing them for a dynamic global market. Professor Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman of SHEC, emphasized the comprehensive nature of the Google tools suite, which will enable faculty to deliver more engaging and effective lessons.

Paul Hutchings, Regional Head of Google for Education for Greater Asia, who attended the signing ceremony, praised the collaborative effort for its potential to transform educational experiences through enhanced creativity and collaboration among students and faculty.

Umar Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley Pakistan, noted the company’s established history in enhancing educational access to Google’s resources, expressing confidence that this initiative would significantly benefit Sindh’s students academically and professionally.
