Turkish Military Leader Discusses Naval Cooperation in Islamabad

Islamabad, General Metin Gurak, the Turkish Chief of the General Staff, visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad where he met with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Chief of the Naval Staff. Their discussions focused on enhancing naval cooperation and ensuring maritime security in the region.

According to Pakistan Navy, General Gurak’s visit included detailed discussions on matters of mutual interest, including the regional maritime security environment and bilateral naval collaboration. The meeting highlighted several cooperative ventures such as training programs, exchange visits, and the conduct of bilateral naval exercises aimed at strengthening ties between the Turkish and Pakistani navies.

The Admiral briefed the Turkish General on the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to ensure regional maritime security, particularly through initiatives like the Regional Maritime Security Patrols. General Gurak expressed his appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s role in fostering collaborative maritime security efforts in the region.

This visit is expected to further enhance the defense relations between Turkey and Pakistan, enriching their longstanding partnership and shared objectives in defense and security matters.
