Srinagar, As rainfall subsides across Kashmir, officials stated there is no flood threat in the region. They are monitoring water levels closely, noting a rise in the Jhelum River near Ram Munshi Bagh while levels in the southern part of Kashmir are decreasing.
According to Kashmir Media Service, an official from the BJP-installed IIOJK administration’s Irrigation and Flood Control department said they expect the water level in the Jhelum River to start receding in Srinagar in the coming hours. The official emphasized the absence of a current flood threat in the Valley, describing the situation as stable following the end of the rains.
The water level gauge at Ram Munshi Bagh was reported at 15.67 feet at 10:00 am, just below the flood warning level. In contrast, other parts of the region like Sangam, Pampore, and Asham showed receding water levels, with measurements recorded at 16.79 feet, over 15 feet, and 8.98 feet, respectively.
The official reassured that they are closely monitoring the situation, hopeful for a decrease in water levels in Srinagar similar to the trends observed in southern Kashmir.
