Waza condemns harassment of party activists in IOK

Srinagar, May 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, has condemned the continued harassment of his party leaders and activists in Kulgam district.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited different areas of Kulgam, met with party activists and expressed solidarity with them.

In a statement issued after the visit, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza said that Indian police were trying to implicate the leaders and activists in fake and baseless cases. He deplored that puppet authorities had converted the entire occupied territory into a police state and were using every tactic to curb the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation movement.

The APHC leader urged India to stop its troops from committing atrocities on the innocent people of Kashmir, adding that hundreds of youth and pro-freedom leaders, who were arrested before and during the recent election drama in the territory, continued to remain under illegal detention.

Mukhtar Waza said that boycotting sham polls was right of oppressed Kashmiri people but New Delhi seemed to have gone frustrated and was using its military might to crush the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiris. He appealed to the international community to take a strong notice of the Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.

Party leaders and activists including Nazir Ahmad Khan, Reyaz Ahmad, Ahmadullah and Zahid Zahoor also accompanied Mukhtar Ahmad Waza during the Kulgam visit.
