WHO Launches New Measures to Curb Mpox Spread Amid Global Concerns

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced fresh initiatives to tackle the Mpox outbreak following the emergence of new cases in Pakistan, Sweden, and several African nations. This move comes in response to the global health threat posed by a new variant of the Mpox virus.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the WHO had previously declared a public health emergency of international concern over the Mpox viral virus. This declaration aims to intensify global efforts to prevent further spread.

In Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three cases of Mpox have been confirmed. Dr. Irshad Ahmad Roghani, Director of Public Health, stated that the Health Department is taking proactive steps by setting up isolation wards specifically for Mpox patients to manage and contain the disease effectively.
