Youth Drowns in Jhelum River in Bandipora

Srinagar, An 18-year-old youth drowned in the Jhelum River in Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, sparking local attempts at rescue that ultimately proved futile as the community grappled with the tragic event.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred while the young man was bathing in the river near the Sumbal area of Bandipora. Efforts by local residents to save him were delayed, and it took significant time to recover his body from the river. The incident has highlighted the dangers associated with swimming in the fast-flowing waters of the Jhelum River, particularly in unsupervised areas.
