35-year-old Adivasi man beaten to death by mob in Jharkhand

Ranchi, May 15, 2023 (PPI-OT): A 35-year-old Adivasi Scheduled Tribes man was lynched by a mob in Indian disturbed state Jharkhand. The Mithun Kherwar was tied up with a rope and was beaten by the villagers till he lost consciousness at Horedag village on the outskirts of Ranchi city of the state. “A team was rushed to the spot, which rescued the victim and admitted him to the nearby hospital where he died during treatment,” Superintendent of Police (Rural) Naushad Alam told the media.

The incident comes a month after a 20-year-old Muslim man, Wajid Ansari, was lynched by a Hindutva mob in Ranchi on false suspicion of theft. Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl, Asmiya, was found dead at a residential Madrasa named Al-Aman at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala state. The family members of the girl said they suspect foul play and have filed a complaint with the Balaramapuram police, local media reported. The body of the girl was found in the bathroom of the institution.
