Al-Qadir Trust Case Verdict Affirmed as Lawful and Merit-Based

ISLAMABAD: The information minister, Attaullah Tarar, has stated that the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case, involving 190 million pounds, aligns with legal standards and is founded on merit. Speaking alongside Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attaullah Tarar emphasized that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder failed to substantiate his innocence in the matter.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, leading legal experts and neutral analysts have described the judgment as consistent with legal principles. Tarar expressed disappointment over the use of religious narratives in the case, asserting that such tactics cannot conceal corruption.

Attaullah Tarar labeled the Al-Qadir Trust case as one of the largest corruption incidents in the nation’s history. He criticized the defense counsel for prioritizing political arguments over addressing the case on its merits. The verdict underscored the defense’s inability to provide evidence of innocence or counter the prosecution’s claims.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar remarked that the case was straightforward, describing it as a significant act of corruption. He highlighted the unprecedented scale of the alleged misconduct.

Additionally, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal commented on the judgment, asserting that it confirms the PTI founder, Imran Khan, as corrupt. He alleged that Khan, during his tenure as Prime Minister, misappropriated funds intended for the Pakistani government by the UK’s National Crime Agency, redirecting them to a Supreme Court account instead.

Iqbal criticized PTI leaders for allegedly attempting to use religious narratives to absolve their founder. He urged supporters of the PTI to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in efforts to transform Pakistan into a modern economy.
