Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has labeled August 5 as a significant day of adversity in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the date with solemn remembrance.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK leader Mahmood Ahmed Saghar articulated this sentiment in Islamabad today, highlighting the 2019 revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status by the Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This action, which stripped the region of various rights and altered its international status, prompts Kashmiris to observe the date as “Youm-e-Istehsal,” symbolizing the exploitation they feel.
Saghar stressed that despite the challenges, the Kashmiri people persist in their quest for self-determination. He criticized India’s policies as attempts to undermine the Kashmiri identity and dilute the region’s demographic status in the global context.
The call for resistance also extended globally, with APHC-AJK leaders Mushtaq Ahmed Butt and Muhammad Sultan Butt encouraging Kashmiris around the world to organize protests on August 5. These demonstrations aim to highlight the Kashmiri plight and protest against the perceived aggressions by the Indian state.
