UNSC Report Highlights Growing Collaboration Between TTP and Afghan Taliban in Attacks on Pakistan

Islamabad: A recent United Nations Security Council report has detailed a concerning increase in collaboration between the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Afghan Taliban, particularly in cross-border terrorist attacks targeting Pakistani military installations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the report by the Security Council’s Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team indicates that Pakistan has been the target of over eight hundred attacks in recent months, attributed to the growing alliance between the TTP and the Afghan Taliban.

The groups are reportedly sharing resources such as manpower and training camps in Afghanistan and have intensified their operations under the new banner of Tehrik-e Jihad Pakistan. The report also notes a broader regional threat, with Al-Qaeda looking to bolster ties with other terrorist organizations in Central Asia, including ETIM/TIP, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, and Jamaat Ansarullah, to expand their influence in the region.
