APHC Claims Kashmiris Persecuted for Demanding Self-Determination Rights

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns over the ongoing political and human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stating that the Kashmiri people are being persecuted by the Indian government for asserting their right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the recent increase in raids, cordon and search operations, arrests, and property seizures in IIOJK. Minhas highlighted these actions as New Delhi’s strategy to suppress legitimate political dissent within the occupied territory. He elaborated on the tactics employed by the Indian government, including the use of probe agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency to levy false charges against Kashmiris advocating for their freedom.

Furthermore, Minhas noted the continuous unlawful detention of Hurriyat leaders in various prisons, including Tihar, as indicative of the BJP-led government’s attempts to undermine and silence Hurriyat leadership. He criticized the central government’s failure to address even basic local issues, leading to significant hardships for the residents of IIOJK under the administration of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The APHC spokesman also called on global human rights organizations to take notice of the unfair trials faced by Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists in Indian courts. He urged the international community to facilitate a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, aiming to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
