Islamabad, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) AJK Chapter has extended its congratulations to Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani following his election as the Chairman of the Senate in Pakistan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a letter from Convener APHC Mehmood Ahmed Saghar to the newly elected Chairman expressed the organization’s congratulations on behalf of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The letter highlighted Gilani’s appointment as a testament to his political reputation and the support for his party’s approach towards political reconciliation and addressing Pakistan’s socio-economic challenges.
The Hurriyat leadership also expressed hope for Pakistan’s continued prosperity under Gilani’s leadership and gratitude for Pakistan’s support for their freedom struggle. The letter remarked on the challenging circumstances faced by Pakistan, both internally and externally, and lauded its steadfast support for Kashmir.
Furthermore, the letter addressed the increased responsibilities of Pakistan following the Modi-led regime’s actions in Kashmir, urging Pakistan to engage the international community for a resolution to the Kashmir dispute. It also mentioned the ongoing suppression of fundamental freedoms in Kashmir since its special status was revoked in 2019.
The APHC expressed optimism that Gilani will advocate effectively for the rights of Kashmiris under the challenges posed by Indian policies in the region.
