APHC Highlights Plight of Kashmiris Amidst Unresolved Dispute

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced the distress faced by the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stating that the longstanding unresolved status of the Kashmir dispute continues to inflict suffering on its inhabitants.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, issued a statement in Srinagar, accusing India of persisting with a military-dominated approach to quell Kashmiris’ demands for self-determination—a struggle ongoing since 1947 and resulting in over half a million deaths.

Minhas insisted that the Kashmiri people would not relinquish their fundamental right to freedom, and he called attention to the human dimension of the issue, urging that its resolution consider its historical context and the Kashmiri people’s desires.

The APHC spokesman framed Kashmir as a critical issue impacting the peace of the entire South Asian region, suggesting that improved relations between India and Pakistan hinge on the dispute’s resolution in line with Kashmiri aspirations.

Furthermore, Minhas demanded the release of all Kashmiri political prisoners, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt and other key figures, from Indian and IIOJK detention centers.

He also accused India of intensifying its crackdown in IIOJK, with reports of increased arrests and mistreatment of Kashmiri youth. The spokesman concluded with an appeal to the United Nations to step in and facilitate a resolution to the Kashmir conflict, thus paving the way for lasting peace in South Asia.
