Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has raised serious concerns about the existential threat faced by Kashmiris due to the ongoing Amarnath Yatra’s militarized nature in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The APHC has criticized global powers for their silence and negligence towards India’s policies that are perceived to be driven by Hindutva ideology.
According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar highlighting the communal and militarized nature of the Amarnath Yatra. Minhas expressed his alarm over the disparity in the treatment of Hindu religious events compared to Muslim gatherings, such as the restrictions on Eid congregations and Muharram processions, which he described as state-backed religious discrimination.
Meanwhile, Indian security forces, including the army and paramilitary units, have continued a large-scale cordon and search operation in the Kishtwar district of the Jammu region, marking the thi
rd consecutive day of their activities.
In a related development, a Kashmiri delegation in Geneva has been actively briefing UN experts and human rights activists about the human rights violations and the environmental impact associated with the militarized Amarnath Yatra in the region.
