Balochistan Cabinet Forms Special Committee to Review Universities Act, Imposes Hiring Freeze

Quetta: The Balochistan Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, has established a special committee to scrutinize the Public Sector Universities Act as compared to those in other provinces, while also imposing a temporary ban on new recruitments in universities.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the decision was made during a cabinet meeting where a series of crucial resolutions were adopted concerning various governmental departments. The committee, including prominent provincial ministers and the Secretary of Higher Education, is tasked with evaluating the Act to ensure improved governance and service delivery within the education sector. The Chief Minister highlighted ongoing challenges, including financial constraints affecting university operations and the need for stringent checks and balances to ensure resources are used effectively and decisions made on merit.
