Body Retrieved from Jhelum River Following Drowning Incident in Sumbal

Srinagar: The body of Huzaif Ahmed Shah, an 18-year-old from Naniara Sumbal, who drowned in the Jhelum River near the old bridge in the Bandipora district, has been successfully retrieved by rescue teams.

According to Kashmir Media Service, local officials reported that Shah drowned on Saturday. Following the incident, a combined effort from local residents, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a rescue operation. Despite initial challenges and having to suspend their search on Saturday evening, the operation resumed on Sunday morning.

Continued efforts by the team led to the recovery of Shah’s body, concluding the intensive search operation.
