Quetta, Bolan Medical College hosted a welcoming ceremony for its new first-year MBBS students, featuring speeches from high-profile figures in the medical and educational communities who encouraged the students to uphold the dignity of the medical profession and commit to rigorous studies.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the event, held in the college auditorium, was attended by Secretary Health Abdullah Khan as the chief guest, alongside Vice Chancellor Bolan University Medical and Health Sciences Professor Dr. Shabir Ahmed Lahri, and Principal Bolan Medical College Dr. Raz Mohammad Kakar. Secretary Khan emphasized the importance of respecting the medical profession’s integrity and the college’s discipline. He also highlighted the fortunate position of the students who secured admissions in a government medical institution, noting the high costs associated with private medical education which many families cannot afford.
Vice Chancellor Lahri and Principal Kakar praised the new students for their hard work in gaining admission to one of Pakistan’s most prestigious medical colleges. They discussed the college’s adoption of the modular system, a growing trend in medical education worldwide, which they believe will enhance the quality of medical training in the province.
The ceremony also served to remind students of their responsibilities and the expectations placed on them as future medical professionals, with faculty members urging them to approach their studies and future careers with honesty and dedication. Faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Hanif Mengal, Prof. Dr. Nasrullah Mengal, Prof. Dr. Farida Kakar, and Staff Officer Secretary Health Shaukat Baloch, were also present to offer their support to the incoming class.
