Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Pledges to Boost Punjab’s Economic Development

Lahore, In a significant push to enhance economic growth and employment in Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has committed to addressing the needs of the business community and boosting the region’s export capabilities. During a visit to the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura, the Chief Minister outlined several key initiatives aimed at expanding the local economy and empowering the workforce, particularly women.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Chief Minister Sharif has directed the construction of a new Garments City within the Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, which is projected to create over 100,000 jobs and significantly advance women’s empowerment in the area. This development is expected not only to enhance local manufacturing capabilities but also to attract further investment into the region.

During her visit, Chief Minister Sharif expressed satisfaction with the progress in export growth and reiterated her administration’s focus on establishing Punjab as a leading economic powerhouse. She also reviewed proposals for additional infrastructure within the Business Park, including a Labor Colony and a Technical Training Centre, to support the burgeoning industrial activities.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister has ordered the swift completion of the business park link road within a month and initiated a large-scale plantation drive to improve the area’s environment. She also planted a sapling as a symbolic gesture of her commitment to ecological sustainability.

Addressing infrastructural developments, Chief Minister Sharif directed the relevant departments to commence construction of a motorway interchange to facilitate easier access to the business park, enhancing its attractiveness to potential investors and workers.

Additionally, responding to concerns over security, she instructed the Regional Police Officer of Sheikhupura to enhance the law and order situation within the next ten days, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for business operations.

The visit, which included briefings by local business leaders like Khawaja Jalaluddin Rumi of Rumi Fabrics Limited, highlighted the provincial government’s dedicated efforts to foster a robust business ecosystem in Punjab. Accompanied by notable political figures and industrialists, Chief Minister Sharif’s initiatives reflect a comprehensive strategy to drive economic development and social progress in the region.
