Karachi, June 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that citizens should adopt precautionary measures regarding summer season so that they could save themselves from various viral diseases. He directed Medical and Health Services Department that they along with DMCs and other concerned departments should ensure that shopkeepers and hotel owners should cover food items properly and warn shopkeepers, stalls and carts that they should not sell non-standard and hazardous food items otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against them. He said this while addressing a meeting in his office.
The meeting was attended by Sr. Director Medical and Health Services Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi, Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Director Regulation and Quality Control, Director Machinery Pool Noman Arshad and other concerned officers. Administrator Karachi Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi said that it was very important that citizens should adopt all necessary precautionary measures regarding summer season and use boiled water.
On this occasion citizens were recommended to adopt precautionary measures for which a proper awareness campaign was being run so that citizens could be prevented from seasonal diseases. Citizens were also recommended to avoid having non-standard and false food items and keep food items safe from bees and dust.
It was informed in the meeting that in case of diarrhea, vomiting and other stomach diseases contact to nearest health centre immediately whereas clean patient’s pots, things of use, clothes, towel and curtains according to health principles. Administrator Karachi said that citizens should adopt precautionary measures during monsoon rains.
He directed Municipal Services Department to carry on fumigation in all areas of the city and implement on spray schedule. He also said that cleanliness of storm water drains should be completed as soon as possible so that water drainage could be carried out in a better way and citizens would not have to face inconvenience in rains.
