Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir addressed key national and regional issues, including the Kashmir dispute, during his speech at the Ulema-o-Mashaikh Conference in Islamabad on Thursday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, General Munir referred to the Kashmir issue as an “incomplete agenda” between Pakistan and India, emphasizing the ongoing significance of the dispute in bilateral relations. He also expressed distress over the recent Israeli actions in Gaza, linking regional conflicts to broader international challenges.
During his address, the COAS underscored the importance of fostering tolerance, unity, and moderation within Pakistani society. He called on religious scholars and clerics to lead efforts against extremism and corruption. Additionally, General Munir commended the sacrifices of the Pakhtun community in combating terrorism and reassured them of the nation’s support. He stressed the necessity of addressing the root causes of terrorism and advocated for peaceful protest as a means to express grievances.
