Islamabad: Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, outlined the government’s strategy to reach a $60 billion export target during the “Dialogue on Economy” event organized by the Pakistan Business Council (PBC). Khan underscored the government’s commitment to supporting the industry and emphasized the link between industrial health and the Ministry of Commerce’s performance.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Khan discussed measures like gas tariff relief and easing business operations as critical for facilitating industries. He expressed optimism that the export target is achievable with appropriate policies in place.
Khan highlighted diplomatic efforts with key trading partners including the US, EU, Russia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. He also noted visits to Cambodia and Iraq, aiming to bridge decades-old gaps in bilateral relations and unlock new trade opportunities.
The Minister stressed the importance of policy stability for economic growth and shared details about internal initiatives within the Ministry of Commerce aimed at improving efficiency. He reiterated that the export goal is part of a broader vision for sustainable economic development and emphasized collective efforts and strategic policies to maximize Pakistan’s trade potential on the global stage.
