Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a complaint has been lodged with the Human Rights Commission concerning the deaths of two civilians in the Kathua and Baramulla districts. The complaint seeks the commission’s intervention in what it describes as extrajudicial killings by Indian troops.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the complaint was submitted by Advocate Nikhil Padha, who is the founder of the Organization for Human Rights and Harmony (OHRH).
The document reports that 25-year-old Makhan Din from Kathua and 32-year-old Waseem Ahmad Mir from Sopore, Baramulla, lost their lives at the hands of Indian forces. The incidents have raised serious concerns regarding human rights violations in the region.
Padha has called for “a transparent and independent investigation” into the deaths to ensure justice and accountability. The complaint urges the commission to take immediate action and issue directives for a judicial probe by a sitting or retired High Court judge.
Additionally, the complaint recommends the suspension of the accused personnel during the investigation to prevent any tampering with evidence. It also proposes the establishment of an independent oversight committee to monitor the conduct of occupation forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
The OHRH emphasizes the importance of accountability and justice for the families of the victims.
