Karachi, November 29, 2012 (PPI-OT): H.E. Mr. Zhang Jianxin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to Karachi of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan met with Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi. Dr. Mansoor Ahmad, Registrar of the University, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Vice Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General and Mr. Gong Jinpei, Cultural Consul, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Qaiser made a comprehensive introduction to the preparation of setting up Confucius Institute in University of Karachi and expressed his readiness for further active coordination and cooperation with the Chinese partner to accomplish the relevant preparatory work so as not only to push forward bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture and education, but also to enhance the friendship between the peoples of both countries.
H.E. Mr. Zhang Jianxin, Consul General briefed the guests on the current situation of relationship between China and Pakistan as well as the latest development in China. Consul General Zhang spoke highly of the active efforts by University of Karachi for setting up Confucius Institute, which will be an important platform for both enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Consul General Zhang also expressed that the Chinese Consulate General will continue to offer assistance and support in this endeavour.
