DFP Declares October 27 as the Darkest Day in Kashmir’s History

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has condemned October 27 as the darkest day in the region’s contemporary history, marking the 1947 invasion of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian forces, which the DFP described as illegal and unjust.

According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement issued in Srinagar, referred to the invasion as an act of “naked aggression” devoid of legal or moral justification. He highlighted the devastating impact of India’s prolonged military occupation, which he said continues to pose an existential threat to the Kashmiri people and their rights.

Iqbal emphasized that the invasion was a blatant violation of international law, trampling on the political and democratic rights of millions of Kashmiris. “Despite suffering at the hands of Indian tyrants, the valiant people of Kashmir have never accepted its dominance over the region,” Iqbal stated, adding that the Kashmiris’ resistance against Indian hegemony remains steadfast.

Referring to India’s actions since August 5, 2019, when the Modi government revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, Iqbal underscored that Kashmiris overwhelmingly reject these measures, and there is little support for the narratives being projected by the BJP to mislead the international community.

Iqbal expressed confidence that Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom and self-determination would ultimately succeed. “The day is not far when Kashmiris’ struggle and their sacrifices for the noble cause will reach fruition,” he affirmed.
