Doctor Assaulted by Mob in Uttar Pradesh After Religious Identity Revealed

Uttar Pradesh: A Muslim doctor, Dr. Istekhar, was assaulted by a mob after his religious identity was discovered at a petrol pump where he stopped to refuel his bike while returning home from work.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack began when two individuals approached Dr. Istekhar, inquiring about his name. Upon learning he was Muslim, they started verbally abusing and physically assaulting him. The assault intensified as more attackers arrived in a jeep, swelling their numbers to around 25, leaving Dr. Istekhar defenseless. Despite an attempt by a local resident to intervene, the mob’s actions continued unabated.

The incident has raised concerns about communal tensions in the area, highlighting the vulnerability of individuals targeted based on their religious identity.
