Dubai: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai held a commemoration for Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir, marking the fifth anniversary of India’s actions on August 5, 2019, which are viewed as attempts to change the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event drew a significant attendance from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Press Information Department, Consul General Hussain Muhammad emphasized the significance of observing Youm-e-Istehsal. He criticized India’s actions on August 5, 2019, as efforts to strip the Kashmiri people of their identity and alter the region’s demographic makeup, describing these actions as gross violations of international laws, including the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolutions.
The Consul General called for a more proactive role from the international community in addressing the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination through political, diplomatic, and moral backing. The event featured screenings of documentaries that depicted the hardships faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule.
