Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic event, the envoys of Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Rwanda, Argentina, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Botswana presented their diplomatic credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The ceremony highlighted Pakistan’s intent to enhance trade, investment, and cultural ties with these countries.
According to Press Information Department, the Ambassador-designate of Zimbabwe, Mr. Titus Mehliswa Jonathan Abu-Basutu, along with his counterparts from Tajikistan, Rwanda, Argentina, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Botswana, engaged in individual meetings with President Zardari following the credential ceremony. During these discussions, President Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s abundant investment opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, IT, energy, and mining. He urged foreign nations to capitalize on Pakistan’s investment-friendly environment.
President Zardari expressed his desire to expand cooperation and maximize trade volumes with these countries, which he described as vital for Pakistan’s economic strategy. He advocated for increased interaction among business communities to strengthen economic and trade relations further. The President also congratulated the new envoys on their appointments and expressed hope that they would contribute to enhancing the cooperative ties between their respective countries and Pakistan.
The ceremony began with a guard of honor presented to the envoys by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces, signifying the importance of the occasion.
