Karachi: Urea offtake in September 2025 is poised to experience a significant increase, with provisional figures indicating an 18% year-on-year rise to 429,000 tons, according to data released by JS Global. This growth comes despite a 47% month-on-month decline, attributed to a high base effect and the adverse impact of recent floods.
Over the first nine months of 2025, urea offtake is expected to show an overall decline of 8% year-on-year. In contrast, the demand for diammonium phosphate (DAP) is projected to fall by 47% year-on-year in the same month.
On a company-specific basis, Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) is expected to record a 3% increase in urea offtake, totaling 237,000 tons in September 2025, which includes 33,000 tons of granular urea. Meanwhile, Engro Fertilizers (EFERT) anticipates a robust year-on-year growth of 85%, reaching 104,000 tons.
The urea closing inventory at the end of September 2025 is projected to remain at 1.17 million tons, maintaining stability in supply despite fluctuations in demand.
In the realm of pricing, local DAP prices have continued to rise. Fauji Fertilizer Company recently announced an increase of Rs530 per bag, bringing the market retail price to approximately Rs14,690 per bag. This adjustment raises local DAP primary margins to $345 per ton, up from $312 per ton prior to the price hike.
