Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Explores Advanced Digital Tax Solutions with McKinsey in Islamabad

Islamabad, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, engaged in strategic discussions with Mr. Tom Isherwood, Regional Head of Technology and Tax at McKinsey and Co., and McKinsey Partner Mr. Ali Malik at the Finance Division today. The meeting, aimed at advancing digital governance and enhancing tax collection efficiency, also saw participation from Minister of State Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Aurangzeb emphasized the crucial need for investment in technology to facilitate a cultural shift towards digital governance. He highlighted the government’s commitment to improving tax collection through the digitalization efforts of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), utilizing data from Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) and REMIT to digitize FBR’s tax systems.

The discussions explored potential quick wins that could be achieved by leveraging existing data, including the implementation of daily reporting dashboards to monitor progress in real-time. Minister of State Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik elaborated on how these initiatives could be further enhanced by efficiently generating, organizing, and analyzing data to improve the outcomes of the ongoing projects.

The McKinsey team expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss these initiatives and assured the Minister of their commitment to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.
