Finance Minister Pledges Continued Support for Gilgit-Baltistan

Islamabad, In a meeting today with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting the region, particularly through initiatives such as the wheat subsidy and potential enhancements in the upcoming budget. The discussions focused on maximizing Gilgit-Baltistan’s rich natural resources and developing its tourism sector.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chief Minister Khan expressed his gratitude for ongoing federal support and highlighted several areas where additional assistance is needed. In response, Minister Aurangzeb underscored the economic opportunities in Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly its potential in tourism and as a source of gems and minerals. He encouraged the regional government to leverage these resources to boost revenue and development.

The meeting, which also included the Federal Finance Secretary, concluded with a mutual pledge to continue collaborative efforts to address the region’s challenges and capitalize on its opportunities, aiming to improve the lives of its residents.
